For the Chicago Artists Coalition’s 2026 Visual Sound Gala — celebrating its 50th Anniversary and honoring visual sound artist Camille Norment — I was commissioned to design a complete set of collateral materials that visually captured the theme of "visual sound" using bold, expressive color. This included the design of a cohesive visual identity and event logo; Save the Date postcards, formal invitations, posters, event and after-party tickets, a digital announcement, and large-scale banners. Additionally, I developed a photographic catalog that served both as a functional element within the collateral system and as a featured installation at the Gala.
Inspired by Camille Norment’s powerful sound-based installation Rapture, I collaborated with photographer Eliza Monroe to create Liquid Echoes — a photographic series that explores the interplay of oil and water as a metaphor for sonic tension and harmony. The imagery captures moments of collision and stillness, representing both chaos and calm — concepts central to Norment’s work.
Using vibrant oranges and deep purples, the series visualizes imagined soundscapes through abstract forms like bubbles, ripples, and bursts. Liquid Echoes invites viewers to engage with visual art on a sensory level — not by identifying what the images are, but by feeling what they suggest. It challenges perception, allowing audiences to experience visual sound as a fluid, emotional, and personal interpretation.
